Shoes and Phrases

I meant to post this the other day but didn't. I really have no reason other than I forgot. When posting things I sometimes think that if I've told someone that also means that I have posted it...wrong! Anyway, Kate has become really interested in dressing up over the last couple of weeks. She really tries to put on her own socks but hasn't quite figured out how to put her little foot inside of it yet. I have no doubt it will come soon as she has become quite the problem solver. She can however put her shoes on! I videoed and took pictures the other night because I didn't think anyone would believe me. She was even successful putting the shoes on the right foot!

Then a couple of days later, I saw her putting my shoes on....and they are on the correct feet!!! Now, this may have been a coincidence but she tends to put shoes on correctly more times than not. So I'm just going to gloat and say that Kate is a baby genius!!!:)

As of yesterday and today, Kate's favorite phrases to say are:

"Milk....I like it!" and "I get 'nother one"

The milk phrase comes during or after drinking milk. The next one is what she says when she's choosing a new book for Dustin or me to read to her. This little girl amazes me everyday! There is something new that she does or says everyday and I love it!! I love watching her learn new things. Kate don't ever stop loving to learn....you are going to do something spectacular and we all can't wait to see what it is!!! Love you baby girl!!!:)

Tulsa Zoo and Casa Bonita!!!

Yesterday Dustin, Kate and I went to Tulsa to eat at Casa Bonita and visit the Tulsa Zoo with Grandma, Grandpa, and Auntie Megs. It was such a beautiful spring day and we had so much fun!!

First we ate at Casa Bonita. Kate was fascinated with the decor of the restaurant! She loved the waterfall that was in our room. Next we went to take a picture of Dustin and Kate in "El Pokey". Then on to the arcade room to play a couple games and ride the little merry-go-round.

After eating at Casa Bonita we ventured to the Tulsa Zoo. We all took Kate last year when she was 9 months old so I was anxious to see how she would react to the animals now that she knows what the standard zoo animals look like. Unfortunately, there is still no polar bear at the zoo! We were so disappointed. Last year, the polar bear had just died so we were hoping there would be a new one. I'm not sure how zoos acquire their animals but we hope they get another polar bear soon! Another thing that was closed was the petting zoo...during the middle of the day! Evidently it is only open from 10-2 on weekdays. The zoo must be assuming everyone is napping then I guess...another disappointment:( The last and final disappointment of the day was the sea lion exhibit being closed. It is being remodeled and is due to be open Spring 2011....we'll see. All in all it was fun and Kate enjoyed getting to walk around the zoo like a big girl. Grandpa, her best buddy, was her personal tour guide. It was so cute to see him pointing everything out to her. Momma loves it that her little monkey learned more vocabulary words!!! {Yes, I am a nerd...remember I LOVE books and I am a first grade teacher:)}

She's A Performer!!

The first day of spring happen to be freezing cold and snowy down here!!! Gotta love Arkansas weather...it was nearly 70 on Friday and then Saturday freezing. Anyway, we were stuck indoors. Kate had already played in the snow a lot this year due to our unseasonably snowy winter so I didn't bother getting her out. She just enjoys looking out the window at the snow now.:) That morning when I went to get her out of the crib I said "Hi...I see you!" and then she repeated what I said! Now Kate has been a talker for awhile but is saying more and more short sentences everyday lately. "I see you" is a new one. Dustin and I have never heard her say that so we thought it was funny. I had put some cute clothes on Kate and wanted some pictures so I grabbed my camera and started taking some in the kitchen. Well wouldn't you know that little stinker would start talking up a storm and I wanted it on video. Somehow I remembered that I could video on my camera and set it up for that. Kate pressed the button to sing the ABC's and was dancing! It was so cute and I got it all on video! At the time I thought I had made a mistake so I made her do it again and this time she added the "pee-a-boo..I see you". So fun!!! So here are both videos of Kate singing and dancing at nearly 20 months old!!!!! Enjoy:)

My 29th Birthday

So in all of the craziness after my birthday weekend I completely forgot to post about what we did! It had been a fun filled weekend with Kate's first hair cut and playing outside in the warm spring weather. After updating on Facebook I realized that I forgot to post....so here it goes!!!

We started out at my Mom's house to open presents and have cake with my Aunt Joani, neighbor Sharon and the rest of my wonderful family! I got lots of great gifts!!! Next we had a delicious chocolate cake from Sam's. The funny thing is that my mom didn't have a "9" candle so she just put an "8" and "1" together! So hilarious!!!

I need to put a disclaimer on the next picture: Kate tripped and fell on the wood floor the night before and got a huge goose egg on her forehead. I just hate it when she does this because I know it hurts and it also looks terrible.:(

After that we decided to go out to eat for my birthday on the same day because the weather was nice. This was the day before my actual birthday but it was supposed to rain on my birthday and I just hate getting Kate out in crappy weather because she is sickly like me. Anyway, every year we get to pick where we want to eat for our birthdays and this year I chose Red Lobster. We usually have bad luck with service at Red Lobster but decided the Rogers location might be better....WRONG!!! It seemed to take forever to get our food. We think there must not have been enough help in the kitchen. However, the food was great! Kate enjoyed coloring so much that she barely ate her dinner. We had fun talking and eating.

It was the perfect end to a perfect weekend....one of my best birthdays!!! Thanks everyone for making me feel special!

Kate's First Hair Cut

Kate was excited about getting her hair cut last Saturday. She even brought along her purse(my lunch box). We also brought along Grandma for moral support!:) Thank you Grandma for coming with us!!!

So once we got to the salon, Kate had changed her mind about the hair cut and would NOT let go of Grandma! So, that meant Mommy would have to take pictures instead of sitting in the chair with Kate.

Putting on the smock before cutting the hair. (I guess that is what you call it! I never thought about what those are really called!!)

Trying to bribe Kate with a sucker....she didn't really want that.

Kate was more interested in holding the combs!

Still deciding if she likes Loretta cutting her hair.....the jury is still out....

A profile shot after the cut

.....and the verdict is: She secretly liked Loretta after all!!!

Kate, you are such a big girl!! You did such a good job getting your haircut!!! Love you baby girl!!
